Junta and Town Hall agree to reduce the plans to the 2.5 kilometres with the greatest volume of traffic and which affects the residential area
The Junta de Andalucía and Mojácar Town Hall have agreed to look at an alternative plan for a ring road to relieve traffic congestion on the municipality’s main coast road. The aim is to address the problems raised in the Environmental Impact Declaration, and at the same time, avoid creating noise and traffic problems in the La Paratá area.
MojácarTown Hallproposes replacing the original plan for a six-kilometre ring road with one for a 2.5-kilometre road from the service station to the link with the La Paratá, coinciding with the area with the heaviest traffic. The Town Hall also wants the ring road to come under municipal ownership once completed.
For the project to go ahead, the local authority will have to adapt the project under the technical supervision of the Public Works and Housing Regional Ministry. Once the project is drawn up, it will be possible to establish the costs.
At this stage there is no firm timetable for the works, although it is expected the initial procedures, such as the corresponding reports and drawing up and approval of the project, will have been completed before next summer.
