The project, a public-private collaboration with an initial budget of 40 million euros, will allow for more than 800 moorings
The Junta has authorized the Andalucía Public Ports Agency to put out to tender the contract for the expansion and exploitation of Carboneras port. This is the second port project the autonomous community will finance via a public-private collaboration model. The budget forecast is 40 million euros, plus the creation of 307 jobs (184 direct).
The works will include the expansion of the exterior as far as the Levante with a new leisure craft dock and dry dock. There will also be a new port front, with spaces for various uses, while fishing activities will be concentrated in the interior dock.
The concession port water area will be 33,415sqms, the number of moorings initially fixed at 864.
The contract includes handing over to the company which wins the contract an already built dock, which is not fully up and running in regards to leisure sailing, but which could be quickly exploited following the construction of smaller docks.
